Liminal Dusk

Story
Liminal Dusk is purist ambient for the threshold between waking and dreaming. It is minimal, nocturnal, and slow: long tails, softened edges, and harmonies that feel half-remembered. The palette is dusk-toned and hauntingly beautiful, gentle enough for sleep, reflection, and late-night listening, and never heavy or ominous.
Liminal Dusk is Midnight Willow’s quieter counterpart: still Mike Mason, but focused on mood rather than melody. Where Midnight Willow keeps the piano in front, Liminal Dusk uses richer pads and textures, slower movement, and more space to breathe. Modal color appears occasionally to add mystery and depth without overwhelming the ambient atmosphere.
The project grew out of the need for calmer pieces written for DreamScapes Sanctuary (opens in a new tab), including the approach first heard in Sleep, the closing track on The Forgotten Album. The first EP, Duskbound, was written beneath that debut episode, Mountain cabin hearth, snow falling outside, and released on March 6, 2026. Much of the music in DreamScapes Sanctuary is Liminal Dusk.
